Prayer and Fasting (Breaking of Bread, Feet Washing & Anointing Service)
Bread of Life Church International had an awesome prayer and fasting period which started from 20th to 24th January 2010.

A praying church is powerful, therefore Bread of Life puts emphasis on prayer and the need to fast.

Presiding Bishop Joe Imakando opened the prayer session by reading from Psalm 92:12, 'The righteous will flourish like a palm tree; they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon.'
The entire church participated in this spiritual exercise. Reverend Johnson Tsakpornu from Ghana led the church in powerful prayers.

Saturday 23rd was awesome as prayers were conducted the whole day. Among the prayer points were: Thanksgiving, leadership, the church, our nation Zambia to mention but a few.

And the evening of Sunday 24th a powerful feet washing, Holy Communion and anointing service to mark the end of the prayer and fasting program was conducted. The service recorded an overwhelming attendance with some people sitting outside the main church auditorium.

Before the feet washing ceremony commenced Reverend Johnson taught on the significance of the same. He explained that feet washing is a sign of humility. Jesus knew that there will be power struggle in the church; He therefore taught that the way to the top is humility. Jesus humbled Himself to serve man. Humility and service are one of the things that make us to be promoted by God.

With feet we posses, it’s symbolic of God empowering us to go forth and posses (Joshua 4).
We will trample on snakes and scorpions, overcome power of the enemy. In life there are all kinds of traps and slippery routes we go through.

After feet washing no devil will overcome us. We shall have authority to exercise power over demons. Feet washing are a statement that God will protect our households, we will not fall into a trap.

Later, Rev. Johnson explained the significance of Holy Communion. Through it Jesus saved us. He defeated the devil by giving himself. As you take the Holy Communion you are being part of the victory.

The wine symbolises the blood of Jesus which was shed at the cross of Calvary and the bread is a symbol of His body that was given and broken for our transgressions.
When you partake in Holy Communion you are making yourself a candidate for a blessing. You are activating fruitfulness; the blood of Jesus carries life, you are taking in life as you take Holy Communion. You receive healing and wholeness, for Jesus paid the ultimate price for healing.

Meanwhile, the application of oil symbolises the Holy Spirit. When we are anointed with oil we are empowered by the Holy Spirit. The power of God will break any limitations in your life. The Spirit of God will take over your life, goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life.

Bishop Joe Imakando and Reverend Johnson led the congregation in Holy Communion, feet washing and later anointing sessions (with the help of the other church leaders).
Jubilation followed as the church praised and worshiped God with music and dance.

Children were not left out: It was a joyous moment for all.

Bread of Life Church shall never be the same again after such a powerful prayer and fasting program. Fruitfulness shall be the portion of the church as many will be fruitful in all areas of life. 2010 is indeed the year of fruitfulness.

Your Decision Today

Evaluation is a revealing process. We evaluate ourselves in many ways. We balance our checkbooks to make sure our finances are in order. We look at ourselves in a mirror to see whether our clothes  are looking right. We need to evaluate our spiritual lives as well.
